Bio: Christopher James Hopper received his BM in classical guitar performance and music composition from Baldwin-Wallace College, now University, Conservatory of Music in 1985 where he studied with Dr. Loris O. Chobanian. He received his MFA in Creative Writing from Bowling Green State University in 1993. Other instrumental instructors he has worked with have included Michael Gatien, classical guitar; Steve North, rock guitar; Tony Favazzo, jazz guitar; Nick Bucci, jazz, rock and blues guitar; Ed Freidland, bass guitar, and Norman Ruiz, classical guitar. Hopper has been an active performer on guitar and bass guitar for the past 30 years or so, up and down the East Coast, in the Midwest, and the Southwest, has appeared on several CDs and done some touring. In addition to his musical pursuits, Hopper is a published poet, and teaches college writing, creative writing and literature courses. Currently Hopper is performing solo as well as with the CPC Trio on guitar, The Hurtin' Kind on guitar, and Blue Nitro on bass in addition to subbing. He lives in Oak Park, IL with his wife, daughter, and a big loveable mutt named George.
